What, how, where and why!What: Sharon and Florian Gabriel established a rehabilitation program in a rural hospital in Cameroon.
How: They worked together with a local non-for-profit organization. This organization is called LUKMEF. LUKMEF stands for Martin Luther King Memorial Foundation . Where: In the East Region of Cameroon. Why: People helping people. We train local hospital personnel in rehabilitation and exercise therapies. We also collect donations to this hospital directly support, to provide the necessary equipment. |
Life at the hospital in Awing, Cameroon
Our ProjectFlorian and Sharon Gabriel spent 4 weeks Cameroon. During this time we taught the hospital staff in basic rehabilitation techniques.Rehabilitation will be added to the weekly schedule and nurses provide manual therapy 4 times per week.

HospitalThe hospital is basically funded by the government. However, the resources are not sufficient to make the most necessary purchases. Currently there are 1 doctor for 40,000 people. This photo is from the delivery room.
